March Vegetable planting

March Vegetable planting

Some Veggies can be planted directly into the garden soil in the Month of March. It is a time for cool weather crops to be started outdoors. They can be planted directly in the ground and can withstand most frost and cool nights. This list is by no means carved in stone . But  it is to be a general planting guide for Abbotsford and the Fraser valley.

From seed

Arugula , Broad Beans, Kale, Collards, pac choi , peas, radishes and spinach .

Garlic bulbs, and onion sets can now be planted outdoors in a sunny area with well drained soil.

Weather permitting , Potato's can also be planted now.

Indoor seeding or  Heated Greenhouse

broccoli , cabbage , Cauliflower , Celery , Celeriac , Leeks , Lettuce ,Onion , Peppers , Tomato's.

These Vegetables need to be started indoors in March to be transplanted outdoors when the soil and air temperatures are favorable.  For good success be sure to use Nurseryland Seed Starting soil mix in all your pots and trays. The proper seeding media should be a clean sterile mix free of insect , disease, and weeds. This mix will hold up to three times its own weight in water while retaining excellent aeration properties!  Perfect for seeds, rooting cuttings, and seedlings.
